Call for Bako Award Nominations

At each Perspectives in Exercise Health and Fitness conference, we recognize outstanding leaders in the exercise, health and fitness industry.

The Bako award recognizes outstanding leadership in memory of the dedication, support and leadership which Dr. Erwin E. Bako, a former physician and member of the board for the Alberta Medical Association in the 70’s and 80’s, brought to the profession of fitness and lifestyle consulting.

To be qualified nominees must:
– be currently working in the exercise, physical activity and fitness industry in Alberta
– demonstrate outstanding leadership and commitment to professionalism

To nominate an outstanding individual please provide a statement of support (maximum 750 words) for your nomination choice. A minimum of two supporting letters (from colleagues, clients, employers, etc.) must be provided with the nomination. The award will be presented at the Perspectives in Exercise Health and Fitness Conference in October. Include a brief cv of the nominee, and outline your relationship to the nominee with your submission.

Meaningful contributions to the exercise profession through activities such as research, creation of new programs or an outstanding level of service in the field; practicing exercise prescription to the highest possible standard.

Past recipients of the Bako Award include Art Quinney, Gord Bell, Don Watts, Dru Marshall and Tish Doyle-Baker.
