The National Fitness Leadership Alliance is the newest member of the International Confederation of Registers for Exercise Professionals
What does this mean for AFLCA members?
It means that all AFLCA members have national and now, international recognition in countries across 4 continents including, Australia, United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand, United Arab Emirates, and South Africa.
NFLA, AFLCA, ICREPs, what’s the connection and why is it important?
The AFLCA is the founding member of the NFLA, a partnership of not-for-profit organizations in Canada dedicated to the promotion of active living through the development of standards, and the accreditation and training of exercise and fitness professionals. By sharing knowledge, resources and best practices we have ensured a national standard and also transferability of your accreditation within Canada. NFLA members also act as advocates for healthy living and for exercise and fitness professionals with regional and national stakeholders in active living, such as educational, health and active living institutions, and Health Canada.
ICREPs members all operate independent, competency-based registration systems for exercise/fitness professionals. ICREPs members collectively register over 60,000 individual exercise professionals. ICREPs has also produced a global matrix that maps each ICREPs member’s registration levels against the others, which provides a transparent and clear pathway for exercise professionals considering moving countries.
- The NFLA is currently the ONLY north American certifier/register to be accepted in to ICREPs.
- Acceptance into ICREPs means that AFLCA accredited members (and all NFLA regional accredited members) have international recognition—a big boost for AFLCA‘s professional credibility and employability.
- As well, the NFLA is now a partner sharing resources and best practices with members in 4 continents.
- The ICREPs global matrix provides us a clear framework to develop new services for our members.
It is a very exciting future for the NFLA and the AFLCA!
