Research clearly points out the importance of active lifestyles to the physical, social and emotional health and well-being of Albertans. The Government of Alberta has drawn on this evidence and consulted with Alberta Active Living Partners and other strategic stakeholders to develop a new ten-year strategy related to recreation, active living and sport.

There is no one better equipped than AFLCA and Alberta CSEP members to deal with the impending active living revolution. Early this year, CSEP developed new Physical Activity and Sedentary Behaviour guidelines based on current evidence-based research. As well the Alberta Centre for Active Living, in consultation with Alberta CSEP and other stakeholders developed a plain language toolkit for physical activity counselling.
