FITNESS PROGRAM INSTRUCTOR- GROUP FITNESS (Casual)

Under the direction of the Fitness & Wellness Program Coordinator, the Group Fitness Instructor will deliver safe quality programs and classes to members of the Morinville Leisure Centre and residents of Morinville.

Key objectives of this position include:
• Deliver group fitness programs to a variety of age groups and demographics;
• Fitness program planning and implementation including, but not limited to, development of content, session outcomes, and set-up and take down of fitness equipment required for programs and class instruction;
• Ensure safety and enjoyment for fitness program participants by following facility policies, certifications guidelines, scope of practice and provincial legislation;
• Perform daily equipment checks and store equipment in its designated location after the program;
• Ensure appropriate use of facility by patrons and guests and enforce facility guidelines and rules;
• Performs other related duties as required.

AFLCA and any other credentials required:
• • High School Diploma with specialized training in a related field;
• Current certification in Group Exercise through the AFLCA, YMCA, Can-Fit-Pro or other certifying body. A degree, diploma or additional certifications and licences (i.e. Older Adult, High Five, Zumba, Yoga, Pre/Post Natal etc.) considered an asset;
• At least 1 (one) year program leadership experience, preferably in a municipal setting;
• Exceptional customer service focus, good organizational skills and the ability to work autonomously and as a team member;
• Good working knowledge and use of various software applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel;
• Current Standard First Aid with CPR/AED.

Compensation/Hours of Work:
Instructional hourly wage ranging from $35.00 to $60.00 per hour; administrative rate may apply for non-instructional tasks. Hours of work for this position are irregular and will vary by assignment, includes days, evenings and weekends.
