We are looking for certificated independent fitness instructor contractors to provide leadership, support and guidance to YMCA patrons.

Position: Yoga Fitness Instructor (Contractor Position)

YMCA Location: South Health Campus YMCA & Shawnessy YMCA

Salary Range: $30 – $40 per class taught
(2-hour time allotment per class which includes class delivery, preparation, set up and take down)

Start Date: January 1, 2020
End Date: December 31, 2020

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Previous experience teaching group fitness classes including (but not limited to): -Yoga
• Valid YMCA/AFLCA Group Fitness/Yoga certification is required;
CPR C certification (CPR recertified within the last 12 months);
• Registered Business Number;
GST number (if applicable);
• 2 million general liability insurance coverage;
• Three professional references;
• Evidence of a clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Yoga Fitness Contract Instructors will:

• Provide an impactful experience for members and non-members participating in fitness classes;
• Accommodate participants of varying ages & abilities by providing modifications for exercises included in program plans;
• Educate participants on the fundamentals of fitness and exercise by leading safe and progressive classes including warm-up and cool down;
• Maintain a safe environment by following policies & procedures to manage risks associated with participating in fitness classes;
• Demonstrate excellent service for participants by being available before & after classes to answer questions and respond to feedback;
• Ensure adequate resources are available for classes by engaging in the set-up and take-down of equipment;
• Provide support for other instructors through collaborative marketing initiatives and subbing for classes when needed;
• Assist the Health & Fitness Supervisor and Health & Fitness Coordinator in maintaining communication with class participants by making announcements during the classes and collecting feedback from participants;
• Build positive relationships with staff and volunteers;
• Attend all necessary YMCA training and ensure YMCA certifications remain up to date.

Applicants must have legal authorization to work in Canada by way of Canadian Citizenship, Permanent Residency or a valid Canadian work permit.

Successful candidates will provide services to YMCA Calgary as an independent contractor and acknowledge that they will not be a partner, agent, representative or employee of the YMCA Calgary.
