In our wellness centers, the Fitness Technicians monitor the wellness areas while demonstrating exercise techniques and equipment usage as well as leading small group exercise sessions. As a part of a high-performance team, you will be integral to the delivery of high quality wellness services and group exercise programs. You will create a positive environment for guests as well as co-workers and be part of a team that thrives to provide a guest service experience at the highest level. • Actively engage guests of the Wellness Center and provide excellent customer service
• Monitor exercises performed by guests to ensure they are done in a safe manner and assist or provide alternate suggestions
• Ensure all preventable hazards in the wellness center are taken care of, this includes cleanliness of equipment
• Proactively address guest concerns and feedback
• Identify, develop and implement initiatives and opportunities for guest retention
• Promote and maintain excellent public relations and a positive image for RPC
• Attend community wellness events to promote healthy active living

Skills and Abilities
• General fitness equipment usage knowledge and exercise prescription knowledge
• Positive and professional attitude with strong communication skills in order to facilitate positive interactions with diverse groups of individuals including; co-workers, superiors, and customers
• Exceptional ability to work in a team fostered environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, manage and balance a variety of interests and objectives
• Able to perform physical labour as required including lifting, bending, twisting, etc.

• Minimum second year enrollment in a Bachelor of Physical Education or related degree strongly preferred or completion of a Personal Fitness Trainer Diploma program
• Previous experience in a fast paced guest service environment
CPR (Level C), AED and Standard First Aid are required
CSEP-CPT, ACSM, AFLCA-CFT, CSCS or other fitness certifications are considered an asset

Conditions of Employment
• Submission of Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check
• Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s licence

This is a part-time hourly position working days, evenings, weekends and holidays at the following locations: Millennium Place, Glen Allan Recreation Complex and/or Ardrossan Recreation Complex.
