Alberta CSEP-HFP offers two levels of certification.
CSEP Certified Personal Trainer®
Available to individuals who have completed a minimum 2 years of post-secondary education and/or Diploma in related health sciences study program. The Diploma program must include formal post-secondary training in physical activity/exercise prescription focusing on health-related physical fitness.
CSEP Certified Exercise Physiologist®
Available to individuals with a minimum completion of a 4-year university degree in Physical Activity/Exercise, Human Kinetics, Kinesiology, etc. OR, allied health professionals, e.g. physical or occupational therapists, physicians.
Fitness Facility Accreditation
CSEP provides accreditation for fitness facilities that follow CSEP guidelines and employ CSEP-CEP and CSEP-CPT designated personnel.
