From aquatic exercise to cycle classes, to one-on-one training, the AFLCA has a certification that will get you going in Alberta’s thriving fitness industry. Our certifications are based on research, tailored for Alberta’s fitness industry and marketplace, and provide personal liability insurance.
One-on-One Fitness Training
The AFLCA offers the Certified Fitness Trainer accreditation for individuals who wish to design safe, effective programs in one-on-one consultation with their clients.
Group Exercise Leadership
The AFLCA offers certification in the following areas of group exercise leadership:
- Group Exercise
- Aquatic Exercise
- Resistance Training
- Fitness for the Older Adult
Note: If you are taking the group exercise route, Group Exercise Fundamentals and a designation course are required. Areas of Designations are: Portable Equipment, Choreography, Step, Cycle and Mind/body.

AFLCA Trainers are qualified to run AFLCA courses, and to give practical assessments to individuals seeking to fulfill requirements for their AFLCA certification. We have a contact list of AFLCA Trainers who can provide these services for you.
AFLCA certifications are developed by highly qualified Alberta fitness professionals specifically for Alberta’s thriving health and wellness industry and marketplace. We are a not-for-profit organization and have been providing training and certification since 1984.
The AFLCA is a standard you can build a career on.
