Challenge into the AFLCA

You may have the qualifications to challenge some of the requirements for AFLCA certification. Challenging allows you to bypass one or more AFLCA certification courses and move directly to writing the exam.

Exam Challenge Qualifications

If you are challenging with certifications or course work not listed below, please contact the office at 780–492-4435.

EXAM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS – documentation must accompany Exam Registration
Exercise Theory Diploma/Degree course work at recognized college/university copy of transcripts – Anatomy & Physiology courses
Exercise Theory and Specialty exam(s) Expired AFLCA or NFLA certifications, Current or Expired YMCA/YWCA certifications, AFLCA members with exams older than one year copy of certificate
Resistance Training, Older Adult Specialty exams Diploma/Degree course work at recognized college/university copy of transcripts and course outline of appropriate course work – contact office for information
Current or Expired non-NFLA certifications Please contact the office for assistance
CFT Theory Current AFLCA Resistance Training certification or Diploma/Degree course work at recognized college/university copy of current RT certificate or transcripts with required course work

AFLCA Recognition of NFLA accredited professionals:

NFLA accreditations are recognized by the AFLCA, and currently certified NFLA exercise professionals can transfer into the AFLCA with NO exams required. Such recognition and transfer is available to current Group Exercise, Aquatic Exercise, Fitness for the Older Adult and Resistance Training leaders.
